A good trip needs a clear plan. Our route takes you through the most important parts of Mexico City over 5 days. Each day builds on the last. Centro Historico gives you history. Teotihuacan gives you scale. Coyoacan and Xochimilco give you color and culture.

The five days cover Centro Historico and Bellas Artes (Day 1), Chapultepec Park and Museums (Day 2), Teotihuacan Pyramids (Day 3), Coyoacan and Xochimilco (Day 4), and Tlatelolco plus the Basilica of Guadalupe (Day 5).

Trip Highlights

Day 01 :

Arrival in Mexico City and Centro Historico

We arrange your airport transfer from Benito Juarez International Airport so your first day is stress-free.

After checking in to your hotel, head straight to Palacio de Bellas Artes. The murals inside by Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros are among the finest in the country.

Then walk to Templo Mayor, the Aztec temple found buried beneath the city in 1978. End the evening with a slow walk around the Zocalo and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Stay Recommendation: Hotel Downtown Mexico. A beautifully restored colonial building right in the heart of Centro Historico. Excellent location, rooftop pool, and strong breakfast.

Day 02 :

Chapultepec Park and Museum Day

Start the morning at the National Museum of Anthropology. Give yourself at least three hours here. The Aztec Sun Stone, Maya collections, and Olmec heads are all inside. Do not rush this one.

After lunch, walk up to the Castillo de Chapultepec for wide views over the city. The castle itself served as a royal residence and military school. The rooms and gardens are worth visiting slowly.

Stay Recommendation:Camino Real Polanco Mexico. A large, well-known hotel right at the edge of Chapultepec Park. Clean rooms, strong service, and walking distance to the museum.

Day 03 :

Teotihuacan Pyramids Day Trip

Leave early. The pyramids are best before 10am when the crowds and heat build up.

The drive from the city center takes about an hour. Walk the full length of the Avenue of the Dead. Climb the Pyramid of the Sun first, then the Pyramid of the Moon.

The views from the top give you a clear sense of how large this ancient city once was.

On the way back, you can stop at a traditional pulque bar or a local market near the site.

Travel Tip: Book a guided tour or arrange a private transfer. Public buses work but cost you time. An early start makes the whole day better.Stay Recommendation: Same hotel as Day 1 and Day 2, or move to Hotel Histórico Central for a central base closer to Day 4 stops.

Day 04 :

Coyoacán, Frida Kahlo Museum and Xochimilco

Coyoacan is one of the quieter parts of the city. The streets are tree-lined and the pace slows down. Start with a walk through the main square and the local market.

Then visit Casa Azul, the Frida Kahlo Museum. This is the house where she was born, lived, and worked. The rooms are kept exactly as they were during her lifetime. Book tickets online well in advance as they sell out days ahead.

In the afternoon, head to Xochimilco. Rent a trajinera boat and float through ancient canals lined with flowers and trees. Food vendors and musicians come to you on smaller boats. It is loud, colorful, and completely unlike the rest of the city.

Stay Recommendation: Mission Express Coyoacan. A clean, practical hotel in Coyoacan that puts you close to both the museum and the Xochimilco boats.

Day 05 :

Tlatelolco, Basilica of Guadalupe and Final Evening

Start the morning at the Tlatelolco Archaeological Zone. This site sits next to the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, where Aztec ruins, a Spanish colonial church, and a modern apartment block all share the same square. It is one of the most meaningful spots in the city.

Then visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is the most visited Catholic site in the Americas. The new basilica holds the original tilma of Juan Diego behind glass. The old tilma is worth seeing too.

Spent the final evening back in Centro Historico. Walk the streets one more time, eat at a spot you missed earlier, and take your airport transfer in the morning.
