Peru Itinerary 10 Days: Perfect Trip Plan

10 Days

Planning a 10-day trip to Peru feels exciting. But it also feels overwhelming. Where do you stay? What do you skip? How do you get from city to city without losing time? We have done the hard work for you.

This guide covers everything you need for a smooth, well-planned trip across Lima, Sacred Valley, and Cusco.

We have designed this itinerary after planning dozens of Peru trips for first-time and repeat travelers.

You will find the best hotels, the right transport, top sights, the right train connections, and practical tips all in one place.

Trip Overview

A good trip needs a clear plan. This route takes you through Lima, Sacred Valley, Aguas Calientes, and Cusco over 10 days, with an optional Arequipa extension at the end.

Each stop builds on the last. Lima gives you a soft start. Sacred Valley slows you down. Cusco deepens your understanding of Inca and Andean culture.

The four main stops are Lima (2 nights), Sacred Valley (3 nights), Aguas Calientes (1 night), and Cusco (3 nights).

Spring (April to June) and Autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit. Avoid January and February due to heavy rain on the Inca Trail.

Internal flights and train bookings are included. For stays, we mix modern city hotels with a traditional lodge in Sacred Valley and a comfortable mountain hotel in Aguas Calientes. Every property is hand-picked for location and value.

Trip Highlights

  • Days 1 to 2: Lima city life, food, and culture. Walk through Miraflores, visit Barranco, eat at the Mercado de Surquillo, and visit the Larco Museum.
  • Days 3 to 5: Sacred Valley steps back in time. Visit Pisac market, the salt pools of Maras, the circular terraces of Moray, and the fortress at Ollantaytambo. Most travelers call this the highlight of the whole trip.
  • Days 6 to 7: Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. Rise early, take the first bus up the mountain, walk through the ancient citadel, and return to Cusco in the evening.
  • Days 8 to 10: Cusco temples, heritage streets, and culture. Sacsayhuamán, Qorikancha, San Pedro Market, and a full day at the nearby ruins are all on the plan.
  • Day 10: A relaxed morning, last-minute shopping, and your airport transfer. An optional Arequipa extension covers the Colca Canyon and the Santa Catalina Monastery for those who want more.
