North East India Trip Overview
Get a quick look at what this region offers and how to plan your time smartly.
North East India is unlike anything else in the country. You get tall mountains, hidden waterfalls, ancient tribal cultures, and some of India’s best wildlife, all in one trip.
The best route to follow is Assam, then Meghalaya, then Arunachal Pradesh if time allows. It works because Guwahati is well-connected by air and rail.
Each state adds something completely different to your trip.
October to April is the best time to visit. Weather stays clear, roads stay open, and travel stays smooth. First-time visitors should avoid the monsoon months.
Fly into Guwahati. Once you land, hire a cab or shared vehicle for road travel. The drives are long but the views make every minute worth it.
